Rumours or teams doing their due diligence
2020-01-04The Bruins playing at home tonight against the St Louis Blues should bring a near capacity crowd, but it will be the few extra onlookers from the press box that is making headlines.
For the last couple of games there has been several scouts from around the league looking in on the Bruins skaters. There's been quiet rumours that superstar center Jack Eichel is the target of the extra sets of eyes.
Eichel, one of the top young stars of the NHL has had a bit of a slow start to the season as the Bruins are a game over .500 before tonight's matchup against the Blues, but have been playing better of late after losing their first three games of the season.
When asked for comment, GM O'Blenes said he wasn't going to comment on any specific players but that he has had several inquiries from around the league on a few players. Is it teams doing their due diligence to see if any players are available and what the value would be, or are there some serious talks going on?
Also of note is the play of Max Lajoie in the AHL with scouts and teams wondering when they will see him in the NHL for good. "For Max, unfortunately there's no space for him right now and we have a good young D corps. It's a numbers game right now. He has to keep to the grind down there in Providence and wait for an opportunity."
Game time tonight at TD Gardens is at 7pm with pick drop at 7:07 after a ceremony for firefighter appreciation night.
