Bruins new GM preparing for Draft

Boston, Mass - The Boston Bruins have made their decision to hire Adam O'Blenes to take over the vacant GM position.  After several interviews and careful consideration of other candidates, the owners moved quickly to snag O'Blenes.  They have signed him to a 3 year deal.  We caught up with the new GM after a local charity hockey game.  Pictured on the right taking a photo with teammate Peter MacIntosh and a couple of excited fans.

"I am extremely excited to join one of the great NHL organizations.  One of the original six with so much history.  I mean, look at the banners hanging up there.  Championships, Hall of Famers and Division titles.  It's a big honour to now be associated with the greatness that has come before me."

After previous years of head scratching trades that took a competitive team, and what seemed like a quick reboot, didn't pan out, new GM was asked about his plans moving forward.  "I've been looking over the roster and seeing where our strengths are and where we can improve a bit more.  We have a good team with some great players here, but there are a few areas of concern we will have to address at some point.  Perhaps through Free Agency or through trades.  I'll sit down with my coaches and execs and figure out what our moves will be going forward.  I can tell you this.  We will be active.  I am active!  I won't rest until we put another banner in those rafters.  That doesn't mean it's a quick fix overnight, don't get me wrong here.  There will not be any knee jerk moves just to try and make that happen.  We will continue to build with good hockey trades and good drafting that we hope players will develop and impact our team in any way they can."

The Bruins are coming off a playoff birth and first round exit to the eventual Cup Champion Detroit Red Wings.  O'Blenes has some work ahead of him and they need to get back on the right track and that will start with the Draft in two weeks.
