Capital Gains At Deadline
2016-03-13No blockbuster deals were announced today for the Capitals but team team didn't stay quiet pulling off a trade with the free wheeling New York Rangers. Coming in for the playoff push is veteran defender Dan Boyle for prospect Mario Lucia and WSH 4th in 2016. Boyle is a puck moving defender who looks to be lining up on the teams 3rd pairing with Nate Posser and also get 1st unit PP time with Justin Faulk. The price wasn't cheap, as prospect Mario Lucia looks ready to turn pro this year and his scoring pedigree should fit in nicely with the Wild in the NHL.
There were rumours GM Mitchell was trying to also upgrade on RW but no moves were announced. "I had Martins, GM of the Rangers on speed dial today. One call to him and you knew where the trades would be. I even called a trade with Florida at one point." said the GM. "We also had interest shown in some of our core guys but nothing really made sense to us at this time, I think some other GM's were just mesmerized by the NYR deals."
Ondrej Palat and Clayton Stoner are currently injured though Palat should be returning to action as early as Wednesday against the Sabres. Boyle will make his Capitals debut Monday against the Wild.
