Montreal get's (Size)d up
2017-01-25Detroit knew they would most likley be losing one of their young goalies to the expansion draft either Hellebuyck or Mrazek so instead of coming to that they decided to talk trade with a handful of GMs within the last few weeks and after narrowing it down to 2 GM's the Wings pulled the trigger when Duran made the offer even sweeter by adding prospect Adam Fox with Montreal's 1st rounder.
Adam Fox fresh off winning the Gold Medal with team USA at the World Juniors, had an amazing final game with 3 assists to help knock out Canada in the championship game. He's great on the power play, He's smart, Has great vision and makes plays and the only knock on him is his size which has yet to affect his game at all.
Last season with the U18 he set a record for a defenseman in the USNTDP program with 59 points. Also on his resume was being named the tournament's top defenseman with 9 points in this past U18's and taking a bronze medal in that tournament.
In his first 18 games as a freshmen Fox has put up 2 goals and 20 assists making him the national leader in points per game for a defenseman and give him credit as well for running Harvard's #1 ranked Power Play in the nation in efficiency.
Detroit was also able to recieve Montreal's 1st rounder which currently sits at 16, while also holding currently picks #9 and #14.
Detroit enters this draft with (3) 1st rounders at the moment, though rumor has it that they want to move one or possibly package 2 in order to get a top young defenseman to help out the Wings.
