Avs Season Hinges On Tonight

2020-05-26

In what has been an up and down season for the Avalanche, with the departure of captain and star player John Tavares; they sit on the outside looking in of the playoff picture in the Western Conference.

Tonight they face off against the Winnipeg Jets in what will prove to be one of the biggest games for the two clubs in their playoff race. Currently Winnipeg sits 6 points up on the Avs, for the final wildcard spot with 5 games remaining. A Jets win tonight will all but eliminate the Avs from playoff contention.

On the flip side, an Avalanche win will put them 4 points back with 4 games remaining, one of those remaining games is against the Jets.

Avs assistant captain and former Conn Smythe trophy winner Mark Scheifele had this to say after pre game skate. “Taking it one day at a time, we feel as though we aren’t dead yet. Most excited I’ve been to play a game in almost 12 months. Let’s (explicate) go!”
