Whirlwind past couple of days! 2017-11-11 It has been a busy past couple of days for GM Steve. First off there is the 1 million dollar fine followed up by the big trade that saw franchise tagged player Niklas Hjalmarsson head out the door right after the first game of the season. When asked about the fine GM Steve had this to say. It seems Andreas Englund got lost along the way as he headed to Calgary and didn’t make it. Apparently he turned left instead of right and ended up at the Columbian Ice Fields. Englund’s response, “I got to drive on a rare and very big bus on ice, cool”. As for the fine, Steve remarked, “It’s a small price to pay considering the bonus’s thrown out during free agency. Would I like to keep that money yes, but mistakes happen and we have moved on.” As for the deal with Dallas, “we hate to see Niklas go but when we you get some quality young players back it was a no brainer. We feel our team in the long run will be better for it. Some may question trading Niklas after using a franchise tag on him last season, but if we didn’t tag him, we would have lost him for nothing. Sounds like a win to me”, according to GM Steve.
